BOROUGH OF MORTON NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 9th, 2026 at 7.00pm
Notice is hearby given that the Borough Council of Morton Borough will convene a special meeting to be held at Morton Borough Municipal Building, 500 Highland Ave, Morton PA 19070 on September 9th, 2026 at 7.00pm.
The purpose of the Special Meeting is to discuss the establishment of an earned income tax for Borough residents, and non residents working in the Borough, at the rate of one percent (1.0%).
It is the judgement of the Borough Council that the imposition of earned income tax is necessary for general revenue purposes including, but not limited to, funding essential services such as police protection; infrastructure maintenance; fire and emergency services; operating and capital expenditures; benefits; pensions; retirement health costs; and debt service costs. An earned income tax is also necessary to diversify the tax base of the Borough and allow the Borough to lower Property Taxes for its residents. The public is invited to attend and participate.
